London, Dalston – Friday, 30th August 2024
Shoebox Events, a new initiative dedicated to highlighting emerging talent from the UK’s underground scene, made an unforgettable debut on Friday, 30th August at TKL in Dalston. The event was a vibrant celebration of music, spoken word, and artistic performances, uniting creatives who are redefining the boundaries of local art and culture.

The night featured a diverse lineup of artists, including the electric performance of B-Mentz, whose energy reverberated through the crowd. Reflecting on the experience, B-Mentz commented, “I’ve been to a lot of events. The way this was organised was amazing!”
Picasso followed with a powerful blend of spoken word and alternative drill, embodying the creative cross-genre experimentation that is central to the underground scene. “I really resonated with the vibe, the crowd, and the momentum that each artist brought to the stage. We need more people that are genuinely for the culture,” Picasso said, capturing the spirit of authenticity and artistic integrity that defined the night.
SkummybyNature, a rapper who traveled from Wolverhampton, brought his raw lyricism to the stage with a standout performance. "The event was great and gave a lot of artists who ain't been heard an opportunity to showcase their talent,” he remarked, highlighting Shoebox Events’ mission to give emerging artists a platform to shine.

Dark023, an international artist now based in London, debuted some of his upcoming releases. His eclectic sound and crowd-moving performance exemplified the diversity on display. “Big shoutout to Shoebox for the opportunity to perform my new tracks. It’s an amazing platform that brings artists and real music lovers together, creating a one-of-a-kind vibe!” Dark023 said.

Another highlight of the evening was K.Umēh, a multitalented artist from Elk Grove, California. Known for his innovative approach to songwriting, sound design, and "frequency blending," K.Umēh captivated the audience with his genre-defying performance, leaving a lasting impression with his boundary-pushing sound.
With a packed house of music lovers, Shoebox Events proved to be more than just a showcase. It created a space for collaboration, creativity, and connection. The event not only gave talented artists a platform to perform but also fostered a sense of community and shared innovation.
The founders of Shoebox Events reflected on the success of the debut, saying, “We’re here to empower the voices of those who don’t always get the chance to be heard, providing a space where they can connect with audiences and each other.”
As Shoebox Events moves forward, the goal remains clear: to continue nurturing the next generation of talent, hosting more events that not only showcase the best of the underground but also foster a collaborative environment where artists can grow and evolve. The debut set a high standard, not just in terms of talent, but in creating a dynamic space where the underground scene can truly thrive.
